Beauty can be felt, but it is mostly visual. As you figure out your own recipe for success, don’t discount the importance of being flamboyant with your work. Whether you work with hair, nails, or make-up; sharing what you do can help your salon gain major success and exposure. There are millions of folks trolling the internet and social media every day. Sharing videos and photos can show the world who you are as an artist.
One thing to remember when taking photos of your work is that the pictures that you share are your advertisement. The purpose is to sell your services and products. That’s why capturing the right pictures are important so that folks will remember you when they need your services. If you have been afraid to show your work, or you haven’t been getting the response you want, don’t fret. I’m going to share 3 Tips for taking good photos “In The Salon”.

Tip #1- Ask yourself, why do you want to take this picture? What is your favorite area of your work? Once you figure out the answer, make it the focal point of the photo. Show up the things that you find most appealing.
Tip #2 -If your client is shy or isn’t a natural model, have them take the picture wearing sunglasses. Some clients are apprehensive about showing their face. This is a great way to give them some privacy while making the hair the focal point in the picture. You nail techs have it easy. No one can be identified by their hands.
Tip #3- Have your client take a selfie- preferably with your camera. Selfies make people more comfortable with being pretty and people make an effort to capture the best photo possible of themselves.
