Do your clients use shampoo, pomade, hair grease, or cologne? All of these items can complement a haircut and the service you provide. If you want to give yourself a raise, selling retail is one of the easiest and fastest ways to do so. There are three things to consider for selling products to increase your barbershop’s cash flow.

1.) Determine the amount of income you want to achieve on a daily, monthly, or yearly basis. Knowing this information will make your efforts intentional and purposeful. This will also help you to determine how much inventory is needed, along with your sales and service target.

2.) Decide which products your clients can benefit from. Do you have a favorite product already? The products you love will be the easiest to sell. Selling a product that you are a fan of can make your approach natural and genuine. Choose products that your clients already use. This can include styling products, skincare products, brushes, colognes, beard oil, and more.

3.) Discipline yourself to reinvest your money. in order to benefit from your product sales, you must be disciplined enough to reinvest your profits for a future higher income. This is especially important if you’re starting with a limited budget. Your inventory should reflect your desired income. After you have reached your inventory goal, then you’re ready to contribute up to 60% of your sales to your income and re-restock with the rest.
