As fun as our job may seem, we still have times where we may feel burnt out. If you are lacking passion and are bored with your job there a few reasons this may be. Gain some knowledge about your own situation. Read more to discover 5 Ways to Stay Passionate About Your Career.
.) Take an advanced class in your profession. You can choose a class that helps you in areas you struggle with or learn something new. Increasing your knowledge about your beauty career will build your confidence. If you are upbeat about your career, you won’t get burned out because you will always be advancing in your field.
.) Teach a Class. There is hardly a feeling that can compare to the accomplishment of helping someone. You may be aware of the many people that may know more than you do, but what about the many that don’t know what you know. If you are good a particular technique or have business insight, you can volunteer your expertise or make money from it. Either way, teaching others is gratifying and it can inspire you as you continue your career.
.) Do different work within the beauty industry. This one is my favorite. Once I learned of the many ways that I can contribute to the beauty industry, a whole new world opened up. You may find that you love the beauty industry, but you don’t enjoy the technical stuff like hairdressing, facials, nails or whatever. You can still participate in beauty as a writer (like myself), educator, or consultant. Find a way to be needed in your career field and passion will continue to expand as you make yourself available.
.) Enter a Competition. Sometimes when we are not satisfied with our job, it’s because we’re not challenged to be great. If you feel complacent in your career, enter a competition to give you drive. Competing can give you good exposure as a professional and you can win money! Even if you don’t win first place, being a contestant will keep you fired up about your profession. There are so much planning and creative processes involved in competitions. Being involved can cause a feeling of excitement and accomplishment.
.) Do some Freelance work. Sometimes we need a change of scenery. Take a break from the salon and do some freelance work. You can do this by advertising your services and by searching for those that need your service. Freelance work can be servicing a bridal party, styling for a photo shoot, styling models for a fashion show, or any other work that allow you to serve people outside the salon. Whether you make a brides day or help with the success of a fashion show, finding new ways to use your potential will inspire your moment to moment. You may have 99 problems, but being burnt out in your career won’t be one.
